Hi Atty,

Hope you can help me. I did something wrong in the past now I don't know what to do. I am legally married but has been separated from my husband for 10 years. I met someone and had a child and until now he is with me. The problem is we had a child but since I am married I placed on the birthcertificate that I am single so that the surname of the baby be under his biological father and not my husband. Now I will apply for a visa and a passport for my child. I am thinking if it will post any problem since on my passport I am using my married name ( using my husbands surname) and my child has a different surname since as mentioned he is using his biological fathers surname. Please help.
Thank yo

My question is if it will have any problem since on my passport I am using my married name ( using my husbands surname) and my child has a different surname since as mentioned he is using his biological fathers surname.
What name will I put in my childs passport? Do I put the name as stated on his birth certificate (stating his biological father's surname) or my legal husbands surname? Will I have a problem going our of the country since I have a different surname from my child?

Please help.

Thanks

yes, it can be questioned because you are using different names. legally, the child should be using your husband's last name
