Dear Atty:

we would want to ask is the marriage is legal if the one side of the family nor the parent stand beside is fake or nagpanggap lang na magulang.. masasabi po bang legal ang kasal nila or not? they got married, last 2009 and now that they are separate ways since last year. They both in legal age, but the girls parents are not the real one during the seremony? the guy wants to file an annulment, what po ang pwdeng grounds para mapanalo ang case?

thank you in advance for answering.

As long as the marriage was celebrated with its essential and formal requisites, the marriage is valid.

A couple can get married even without the presence of their parents. However it can be annulled if they get married at the age of 18-21 without the parent's consent.

Unfortunately, having pretend parents at the marriage ceremony is not a ground for annulment.
