Hi..I have a 5 year old daughter and I am not married to her mother. Both of us are working abroad but in different countries. My daughter is carrying my surname. I acknowledged her in her birth certificate. And I also give my financial support for her. Sometimes me and her mom is not in good terms and she's telling me that she will change the surname of my daughter to her's. Can she do this even without informing me? Thanks you so much. God bless

the father is the only one who can impugn the legitimacy of his own child. But I think she can adopt her child to remove the father's parental authority.

no, she should not be able to do it without your knowledge. send her a letter via registered mail, email, and personally informing her of your mailing address. that will foil any plan of trying to give a fake address with the court.
