I am an American that was working for a company here. After two months of service, they terminated me. The letter that they gave me states that once I clear myself from the company, I am entitled to my final pay. I cleared myself from the company and I was promised my final pay on the upcoming payday. When that day arrived, I was told that I was not able to get my pay for another month. So I went to DOLE and filed a complaint. When they spoke to the same HR that I was talking to, he told DOLE that I could not receive my pay for two to three months.
Is this legal? After being told I would get my pay and then suddenly they just say that it's company policy to withhold the pay but not ever show me or anybody in the company an official document saying such and constantly changing the time period of when I should receive the pay.
I have to leave the country soon and I would really like to get the money they owe me before I am forced to leave. Is there anything I can do?
