Hi, I would like to ask if it's legal to sign a new contract when you still have an existing contract.

The company that I'm currently working for decided to change their company name. Since it's considered a new company, we have to a sign a new contract. But we still have an existing contract till March this year. I would like to ask if this is legal? If yes, does the company have to pay a separation pay for us? Also, we are considered as a contractual employee, may I know what are the benefits of a contractual employee?

Hoping that these queries will be answered. Thank you.

Nothing has been changed so far only the company name. All statuses and contracts would be the same as it was before. The old company shall not give the separation pay. It is up to you if you wish to stay with the old company but as I have said no separation pay, then you can sign that contract.
In short the identity of the company did not change.
