November 1 Holiday deduction

I have an employment contract that says my work hours are 8am-5pm. Monday to Friday.

Last November, my employer deducted a day off my salary. According to them this is because November 1 is a holiday. The company already computed it's budget for salary and it doesnt include November 1 as a working day that is why they deducted a day off my salary.

November 1 is a Saturday and I am mot required to work on Saturdays.

Should I get paid or not on that day?
