Hello!

I was promoted from a supervisory position to a managerial position. After 3 mos, i was given an adjustment for about 2k. Due to some unavoidable circumstances, i submitted a letter requesting for re-appointment back to my previous supervisory position. Now, they want me to revise my letter stating i am willing to return the approved salary adjusment because it was for that position.

Question:

1. Does the law allows such reducing of salary?
2. Would i be charged legally for not submitting the letter?
3. What would i do if they will issue a letter request me to do so?

it's not a demotion since the move back to the supervisory position is voluntary.

the salary is given because of the position so since you voluntarily withdrew from it, then you should not be entitled to the corresponding salary.

it would be unfair to the company that anyone will go for the position and salary and then have the same salary after leaving the position.

Thanks for the info. Just to add, 1k was added on my basic & the other 1k on my allowance. Should i reduce my basic by 1k or the 1k allowance only or both?
