Hi,
I am a British citizen living in the uk. I will be marrying my Filipina gf in December and we want a prenup arranged beforehand.
I will only be in the Philippines for 10days before the wedding is that enough time?
I have tried to contact some lawyers in manila but they all want a meeting (in person) in their office before giving me any information at all. Obviously being 7000miles away, that is impossible...
We need to know what information/documents are required, title deeds etc.
Basically I want to find a lawyer who is happy to start the process without a meeting in person beforehand...
Hope you can help.
Many thanks in advance
John

I forgot to mention. My gf/wife will only be 20 at the time of marriage. Does this complicate things regarding the prenup?
We already have the marriage licence.

"I will only be in the Philippines for 10days before the wedding is that enough time?"
I believe a "marriage course" is obligatoric if marry not in church too, so that's much to short if you marry in the Philippines.
Will you not meeting her much longer time BEFORE deciding if marry??? Only having Internet contact is NOT same as meeting Smile

There is an other solution, but it seem it's a bad idea in your case, so I don't tell it... Smile

"We already have the marriage licence."
Meaning you have done that course together allready?

"My gf/wife will only be 20 at the time of marriage."
Up to age 25 need her parents aproval to marry.
I don't know what's the minimum age to be allowed to decide signing prenup and other contracts.

"Basically I want to find a lawyer who is happy to start the process without a meeting in person beforehand..."
Have you asked if they are interested in distance consultation if you send pay BEFORE it's done? Smile

Hi Lunkan, I didn't explain my whole situation as i didn't want to bore everyone Smile but im aware of all the issues in regard to marriage. We have the licence, have been to the family planning classes and municipal hall along with her parents to acquire the licence. I spend 4 months each year in the Philippines and have property there.

Thanks for your suggestion about sending money before. I will just keep looking for a lawyer willing to do that. So far all have required a meeting in person.....

Then I answer some different   Smile

Here are some links, which you perhaps have use of, perhaps to write a prenup yourself   Smile
About prenup, joint owning and such:

About needed documents:

A RESERVE alternative, because of the short time available, if something screw up, can be marrying in an other country. I believe marrying in HongKong is more as marrying in Las Vegas = speedy.
