Hi All,

Do I have a case if the company told me that I was being assigned to a new project and new position even though I told them I was going to lose money if I agree to the reassignment. They did tell me that they will find a way somehow to compensate me for the loss of income but as of today, no increase and they have remove the benefits I enjoyed in my previous post (I was an SME-QAS). It seems to me that the reassignment was a demotion since I lost money and benefits. Any advice?

Did they say transfer or promotion?

If transfer, you don't have much say in the matter.

If promotion, you could have declined that.

Why don't you call back your HR and follow up on what they had stated before.

no, my basic was not reduced. the way they presented it to me sounded like it was a promotion and not a simple reassignment. i was looking forward to new challenges and of course an increase in compensation since the project is offshore. i could not decline the offer with those things in mind

what are the benefits you lost? if they were fixed regardless of the nature of the previous position then you may have a case, but if they were tied to the position then it may not necessarily be a reduction of benefits.

my previous position included sales commission. not sure what you mean by fixed. thanks.

fixed would mean vacation leave, periodic bonuses which are guaranteed regardless of performance

variable benefits would include travel allowance, night pay, hazard pay, and may include sales commissions.

you should continue your pursuit of their promise that they will adjust your pay, but it may be tough to claim the same commissions if you are in a non-sales position

To join the conversation, was a performance assessment conducted prior to the movement? + or -? How many in the organization are SME-QAS? What now is your new title? The input you provide may help put this into better perspective.

no performance assessment..I am the only SME-QAS..my new titl is Billing Implementation Specialist which is an entry level post..thanks
