Hello everyone,

Would like to seek for advice on this case:

I want to answer all the questions in the chapter review from a particular textbook, then I want to compile my answers into an e-book for commercial purposes.

Am I violating a copyright?

Thank you very much for the advice.
Regards.

As long as you inform the author of said textbook of your intent to publish answers and said author permits the use of his questions for answering purpose and he gets proper citation as per the source, there should be no problems.

Just to make sure, contact the Intellectual Property Office and ask for their advice regarding your query.

Thank you for your advice.

What if the author won't permit, it is a violation already?
My answer came from my own idea and understanding; and it could be right or wrong.

Also, I will ensure citation including picture of book cover.

Thank you,

if you copy the question to your book, yes you can have a problem. but if you only post the answers and reference the question without copying it then you'll be within your rights.

you can also build an argument that if you copy it's fair use, but it's not clear whether it would prosper in a copyright case. I'd bet that it would though
