Hello po! Nagrerent po kami from abandoned house ng 3years na walang kuryente. Ginawa ng may-ari ay nagsub-meter sa isang rental House nya at ngayon ay binibenta na sa amin ng owner ang property. Noong mag apply kami sa meralco para sa sariling kuntador nalaman namin na may utang pala ang dating nakatira sa house na hindi namin kilala kaya binayaran namin para masettle at maprocess yung application namin. Kaso umabot ng 6 months wala pa din kaming sariling kuryente kahit fully paid na kami kaya pumunta kami sa office ng meralco para mag follow-up at nalaman namin na may jumper case daw ang address namin kaso under the name of the 1st owner dahil 2nd owner na pala ang may-ari na kilala namin at masesettle lang kung magbabayad kami ng penalty. Hindi rin aware ang 2nd owner ng house na may jumper case ang nabili nya na house. If ever po ba na bilhin namin ang property bilang 3rd owner at matransfer sa name namin ang title ng house may chance ba na makabitan kami ng sariling kuntador at malinis ang jumper case na walang penalty? Gusto lang po namin malaman bago namin bilhin ang bahay. Thanks po.

You should check with Meralco's legal department as to what steps you should take as the potential 3rd owner of the property.

Sadly, these are Meralco's internal rules and unless you have been an employee/officer with Meralco, only a select few would know of the rules inside that company.

As far as I know, jumper cases in meralco are tied to the property itself. kaya kahit maka ilang palit palit pa ng may ari ang bahay, hindi parin makakabitan ng kuryente yun property unless masettle yung case sa meralco. I would advise na settle muna ng previous owner yung case sa meralco bago mo bilhin at Malaki ang multa nyan.
