Hello good day!

Kindly advise...

solo parents are not given priority, but are given an extra days:

Section 8. Parental Leave. - In addition to leave privileges under existing laws, parental leave of not more than seven (7) working days every year shall be granted to any solo parent employee who has rendered service of at least one (1) year.

Make all your communication in writing and make sure you keep a copy. if by email, copy it to your personal email.

reiterate your request for leave. mention the past instances where it was approval was rescinded.

Hi, Hope you are doing well. I just want to check regarding Solo Parent Leave. I'm working in a private company last year i was informed by our HR Manager regarding about the solo parent leave and she asked me to submit an affidavit stating of my status and a copy of my son's birth certificate. I have submitted the affidavit and have used the solo parent leave. This year we have a new HR Manager and she is requiring us to submit a Solo Parent ID from DSWD. Do i really need to secure the ID? Thanks

agree with myles. it is in the implementing rules that the dswd is required in order to avail of the benefits. you will see that was my first question to myles. check out the dswd website for a list of their documentary requirements.

Hi. I'm a teacher, solo parent for more than 9 years now, abandoned and cannot locate my spouse. I tried to apply a certification from Mswd in our municipality today, bringing the certification from our barangay captain that i'm really a solo parent. She denied my request coz she said they only cater the indigenous people. She even told me to secure solo parent certification from the DOLE. How could that be? If I'm not mistaken, it's the work of DSWD to provide that after they make assessment to my claim as solo parent, so i can use the 7 day benifit for parental leave in DEPED.

they didn't gave me reason why they refuse to grant that Solo Parent leave. I already renew my ID because from my previous work, they grant me the addition 7 days leave. Only Vacation Leave, Sick leave, Maternity leave are the leave that we can avail.

i already raised my concern with my superior. they said that there gonna review and see first if ts mandated by law. They also asked for my ID and documents from DSWD. They told me that as far as they know, only vacation leave, sick leave and maternity leave are mandated by law. Is solo parent leave also mandated by law? Many Thanks..
