would like to inquire if I can be sued or I can file a lawsuit against those people who always claim they are the subject of my posts in some social networking site. I have quite a number of posts pertaining to different things including leadership. Our chairperson, accuses me of criticizing and scrutinizing him thru my posts. Our chairperson is also accusing me of conspiring with those people who comment on my posts. The nature of my posts are very generalized and may pertain to different people including my boss at work as it focus on equality. She is even using this post against my husband for his case unjust vexation. I would like to know if there is a way I can stop this harassment as I feel my freedom of speech is being jeopardized by their endless suspicion and gossiping. Thanks and hoping truly to seeing a response.

why not write direct letters to the persons concerned or their superiors so you can air your grievance?

if they can prove that you identified them, subjected them to published written defamatory remarks, then libel can prosper.

good day. thanks for the reply. I am considering consulting a lawyer, however, I am weighing the advantages over the disadvantages of this decision. By defamatory, does it mean you need to formulate a lie against a certain person? Will it be considered defamatory or grounds for libel if you express ur opinion against their point-of-view in a sarcastic way? And I also mentioned on my posts that I am willing to escort them to the higher authority to question the higher authority in terms of the legality of a certain act? we were told that playing gambling inside a private home is not illegal. I challenged this statement by stating i will escort them to a nearby lawyer or court to prove its also considered illegal just the same as when u gamble on the street. This made it obvious I was pertaining to our chairperson although on my post I never mentioned his name. Since then they keep on telling my relatives everytime I post something it always pertains to them. It reach the point that other people and elders in our area approach me telling me to stop harassing other people via my posts. Please I just need to understand the law, I just need to understand my rights and what the law says about my rights to expressing opinions. Thank you so much.

no, even if true, as long as defamatory, libel can prosper.

but blind items can be allowed if it cannot be easily identified who is being alluded to.
